MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali police have arrested two suspected gunmen in connection with armed robbery in Hodan District, Mogadishu.
Speaking to the media, deputy police chief, Zakiya Hussein Ahmed said the forces successfully arrested the two who allegedly raided a branch of Hormuud Telecommunications company in Sei-Piano vicinity.
“The police arrested two men suspected to have raided Hormuud Branch in Sei-Piano vicinity and the officers also confiscated two rifles suspected to have been used in the raid,” she said.
During the raid, the gunmen reportedly killed one person and wounded another, according to Ms. Ahmed.
“A man was killed, and another woman was injured during the attack at the center. The police will carry out an investigation into the case and will bring the perpetrators before the justice,” she explained.
The police also apprehended several people and seized vehicles in Mogadishu following operation to hunt down individuals said to have thrown Improvised Explosive Device (IED) near the CID department in Hodan District.
“The police have detained (several) men who (allegedly) left the plastic bag containing IED (near the CID center) and a vehicle they were driving, the vehicle is a minibus. After investigation, they will be dealt with as per the constitution,” she confirmed.
