The Parliamentary Interim Elections committee officially concluded the registration of candidates vying for the office of the speaker.
The commitee started the registration of the candidates on Monday.
Speaking to the media in Mogadishu, the chairperson of committee, Nur Idow Beileh said the commission has completed the registration.
According to Beileh, the electrol committee has enlisted eleven contenders.
“Eleven candidates have complied with regulations of the committee thus they are legible to vie for the position of the speaker,” said Beileh.
The chairman noted that the candidates will present their manifesto at the Lower House in the next two days.
The so far registered candidates are as follows:
Ibrahim Isack Yarow,Ali Sheolikh Mohamud
Abdiazis Hassan Mohamed
Salim Aliyow Ibrow
Sheikh Adan Mohamed
Shariif Sheikh Maya
Others who are qualified to contest are: Idris Abdi Dhakhtar, Mohamed Mursal Sheikh, Shariif Mohamed Abdalla, Mohamud Moalim Yahye and Iman Abdullahi Ali.
The election of the speaker is set to take place on 30th this month.
Mohamed Osman Jawari who was leading the Lower House Assembly for the last six years has resigned from the office early this month after an impeachment motion against him culminated in a month-long political stand-off.
