Mogadishu, (Halbeeg News) – The federal government of Somalia has said at least 59 Al-Shabaab militants have been killed in two military operations conducted by the Somali National Army backed by international partners in Galgaduud and Middle Shabelle regions.
According to a statement by Somalia’s Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, one of the operations took place in the vicinity of Gerile and Awsweynein Galgudud region, while the second operation was conducted in the Hawadley area in Middle Shabelle region.
The government has in the also statement admitted four soldiers were killed in the operation in eastern Galgudud.
The federal government has said it has intensified operations targeting leaders of the Al-Shabaab and that the efforts by the Somali forces and its international partners have drastically disabled the group’s operations.
