At least 350 pupils in Hudur town benefited from free education for the first time in decades after new primary school which offers free education was established .
The school which is the first of its kind in the area was officially opened last week in ceremony attended by local officials, educationists and over hundred parents.
Hudur Deputy Education Officer, Mohamed Abdullahi has welcomed the move saying it will educate hundreds of pupils.
“We welcome the establishment of this school. It will play very important role in educating the society,” said Abdullahi.
He said the school had already enrolled over 350 students, majority of the pupils hail from poor families.
“We have registered 370 pupils of different classes. majority of the students are from poor families. They were transferred from private schools due financial challenges,” he explained.
The school which was built and equipped by Qatar based charity organization consists of eight classrooms, staff rooms and two toilets.
Hudur is located at Somalia’s border with Ethiopia and lies 370km away from Somali capital, Mogadishu.
