Interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has denied claims that Sir Alex Ferguson has been taking a hands-on role in Manchester United’s revival.
The Norwegian has won all seven of his matches in charge since taking over from Jose Mourinho last month, with six of those wins coming in the Premier League as United have hauled themselves to within three points of the top four.
Solskjaer has often been quick to cite quotes or inspirational messages from Ferguson as he’s sought to re-establish the club’s core values, which were developed during the Scot’s 27 trophy-laden years in charge at Old Trafford.
Ferguson – who has made a miraculous recovery from a brain haemorrhage suffered last year – was invited down to training by Solskjaer on one occasion, but that is the extend of his involved, said his former forward.
“We don’t speak weekly,” said Solskjaer, via the Evening Standard.
“I haven’t spoken to him many times. He has been in to visit us just once – he has been to see (former player, Giuseppe) Rossi (who has been training with the club) once.
“The influence is more my 15 years under him. He is 77, it is not fair to him either is it?”
Solskjaer added that United have drawn on their history to aid their comeback.
