MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Delegation from Organization of Islamic Cooperation has arrived in Mogadishu ahead of a ministerial meeting scheduled to take place in Mogadishu.
The delegates from Turkey, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia were welcomed by officials from the Somali government.
Another delegation led by Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs at the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hesham Youssef has reached Mogadishu to attend the meeting which is for tomorrow, according to a statement from the bloc.
In a statement, the bloc said the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will hold a ministerial meeting of the OIC contact group on Somalia on 27 October 2018, in Mogadishu.
“The Federal Republic of Somalia will host this meeting on its soil for the first time in accordance with the resolutions of the 44th and 45th Islamic Conferences of Foreign Affairs Ministers, held in Abidjan in Ivory Coast and in Dhaka in Bangladesh respectively,” the statement reads in part.
The participants will focus on the ways and means to promote durable peace and institutional stability in Somalia.
The Federal Republic of Somalia as a founding State of the OIC has always occupied a high place on the OIC agenda and the OIC continues to actively contribute at various levels for achieving peace and stability in Somalia.
