MOGADISHU ( Halbeeg News) – Heavy downpour in Mogadishu for the past two days has affected the movement of people resulting in heavy traffic in some parts of the city.
Two people were rescued by city emergency services after their house collapsed in Boondere district.
The Mayor of Mogadishu, Omar Mohamed Mohamud together with senior Banadir regional officials toured areas affected by the flash floods to assess the damaged.
The Governor of Banadir regional administration called upon the residents to join his office in the efforts of aiding internally displaced persons who are most affected by the nightlong heavy rains.
The flash floods and scattered rainwater is attributed to the poor drainage system in Somali capital which has not been upgraded since the collapse of the central government close to three decades ago.
But with the help of the Somali government international partner like Turkey, there are ongoing efforts to refurbish Somalia’s main city infrastructural development mainly roads.
