The newly appointed Presidential Guard Chief, Odawa Yussuf Rageh on Sunday assumed office during handover ceremony held in Villa Somalia.
Somali National Army (SNA) Force commander, Abdullahi Ali, the outgoing presidential guard commander, Ahmed Mohamed Af-Adey and several other commanders, lieutenants, colonels and generals have attended the handing-over event.
Rageh who will be the new commander of 60th battalion of SNA in Villa Somalia took the office from his predecessor, Af-Adey who was sacked early this month.
The newly sworn general commanding officer of Villa Somalia has commended the achievements of the outgoing commander who has been holding the office last year.
Rageh pledged to execute his duties as per the constitution of the country.
“I promise to fulfill the duties and the responsibilities I was entrust with, as required,” the new Villa Somali chief.
In same avenue, Dayah Abdi Abdule, newly appointed Force Commander of 60th battalion has also officially assumed the office
Af-Adey was relieved his duties 5th of this month following allegations related to the looming political stand-off.
He was accused of involving last Wednesday’s Political squabbles and his involvement in the crisis.
Sources privy to the developments say the outgoing commander was found guilty of allowing some of the presidential guards to take part in Wednesday’s House blockade.
The sources also confirmed that Af-Adey’s resignation letter was issued same day with that of General Secretary of the Parliament, Abdirisack Buh but Halbeeg News cannot authoritatively state whether the letters were related.
