WASHINGTON ( Halbeeg News) – Somalia’s new ambassador to United States, Ali Sharif Ahmed has presented his – diplomatic credentials in Washington DC on Thursday.
Ambassador Sharif credentials was received by Mary-Kate Fisher , the acting Chief of Protocol at state department.
President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo appointed ambassador, Ali Sharif Ahmed on July before approval by the cabinet.
The experienced diplomat who previously served as Federal government envoy to Addis Ababa will be the main man in Washington DC.
He was among various diplomats who were affected by Ministry of Foreign affairs reshuffle in a new bid to improve foreign policy by President Farmajo and Prime Minister, Kheyre government.
Somalia and US share stable diplomatic ties rejuvenated by fight against armed group al-Shabaab in the horn of the African country.
Apart from training and equipment of Somalia’s elite force Danab, US military provide air support to Somali troops offensive against the group.
