MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – At least two people have been killed and several others wounded after mortar shells suspected to have been fired by al-Shabab fighters hit a residential house near the presidential palace in Mogadishu.
According to witnesses, one of the mortar shells hit a house in the Wartanabada district, killing a father and his daughter. The mother of the family also sustained injuries.
Four other civilians, including children, were reportedly injured in the attack.
In a statement, Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack, saying its fighters targeted Villa Somalia and destroyed some premises in the presidential palace.
