GAROWE (Halbeeg News) – More than 1500 students in Puntland regional state of Somalia have kicked off their final examinations in primary and secondary schools on Saturday.
Puntland president, Saed Abdullahi Deni accompanied by senior regional education officers officially commenced the exercise in Garowe on Saturday morning.
Deni said that other parts of the federal country which missed the exams due to mismanagement will learn from the semi-autonomous regional administration.
“It great success for Puntland education ministry and a good example for other parts of the country that we need to share with federal education officials,” Deni said.
Somalia’s education minister, Abdullahi Godah Barre nullified unified national secondary schools which kicked off on 11th May last week following widespread leakage of the exams papers in the social media.
The repeat exams are scheduled towards the end of the month.
Four students were injured following protests by students in various parts of the country.
Unified Somali secondary national examinations were resumed in 2014 after an absence for more than two decades following the collapse of the central government led by President Siyad Barre in early 1990s.
