The security of Somali capital, Mogadishu has been tightened ahead of the vote of no confidence motion against the Speaker of Lower House, Mohamed Osman Jawari.
Several main roads including Sei-Piano, Dabka, KPP, Ged-Ja’ayl, Howlwadag, Tarbunka, Florence and Adan Adde are closed
The motion which was reportedly signed by over 184 will be tabled today before Lawmakers to decide its fate.
In statement by the MPs seeking to eject Jawari from the office which he was occupying since 2012 accused him of violating the professional constitution and House Standing Orders.
The proponents of the impeachment motion boasted to have secured the signatures of over 184 MPs despite the rejection by the pro-Jawari MPs who claim the proposition failed to meet its requisite legal procedures.
According to the Provisional Constitution, the motion is needed to get of 184 out of the 275 members of the House.
“The Speaker and his or her deputies shall be elected through a secret ballot by a majority of the Members of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament, and may be removed by a two thirds of the Members of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament,” section 4 of the article 65 of the Provisional Constitution explains.
