MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – The security of Somali capital, Mogadishu has been Improved as the forces stepped up operations to stabilize the city.
In a Twitter post, Somali deputy police Commissioner, Zakiya Hussein said the cooperation between the police and public has been improved since the establishment of the public hotline.
“There’s been significant security improvements in Mogadishu this primarily due to strengthened relations between the public and the security forces,” said Zakiya.
The commissioner urged the Public to report elements violating peace in the peace.
“We urge all citizens to report any suspicious behaviour or security concerns by contacting us through the 991 public hotline,” she said.
For the last two months, Somali security forces have rumped up operations against al-Shabaab in and outside Mogadishu.
The forces backed by African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) control of villages vacated by al-Shabaab.
Somali National Army backed by its partners Monday recaptured two villages in southern Somalia.
The forces took Koban village and El-Salin village in Lower Jubba and Shabelle respectively.
