Mogadishu mayor, Abdirahman Omar Osman on Friday night visited victims of the twin car blasts who are receiving treatment at different hospitals in the capital Mogadishu.
Close to 30 people were wounded in the two explosions and gunfire that took place at checkpoint near Villa Somalia and the parking lot of Dorbin Hotel (Ex-Bar Fiat).
Osman commended the doctors and Aamin Ambulance service for their efforts to help victims of the city attacks.
“I visited the victims of the explosions that occurred tonight (overnight). I heartedly applaud the doctors, the security forces, ambulance service and public as well for their roles to save their people,” the mayor said.
The mayor said one of the blasts had seriously affected young people who were coming back from Lido beach.
“The blast at Ex-Bar Fiat coincided with the time when young people coming back from the beach as it was Friday,” Osman noted.
Al-shabab fighters claimed responsibility for the attacks which killed over 18 people mostly civilians.
Two cars laden with explosives went off around the presidential palace and a national security forces’ base called Habar Khadija,” Al-shabab military spokesman Abdiasis Abu Musab told Reuters
