NAIROBI (Halbeeg News) – A Somali-Kenyan scholar, Abdisamed Sheikh Abdisamed who went missing early this month was found, a Human rights organization which was following up on his disappearance confirmed Sunday without giving out further details.
Abdiswamad, 55, was allegedly abducted on 8th September 2021 at around 10am along Tubman Road in Nairobi by four people.
The four wrestled him to the ground before cuffing his hands. They then bundled him into a double cabin pick-up truck they were using.
The assailants sped off towards Muindi Mbingu Street, according to a witness who claimed that one of the attackers was armed with a pistol.
In a brief statement, Haki Africa, a human rights organisation based in Mombasa said “Abidwahab is now with his family, more information to be shared by his family in due course.”
The news was also confirmed by Farah Maalim, the former Deputy Speaker of Kenya’s parliament and former Lagdera MP who thanked the public for their support.
The disappearance of Abdisamad, who was the executive director of the Institute for Horn of Africa Strategic Studies, had caused an uproar in the country, with the family also blaming Somalia Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble.
The regional analyst arrived in Kenya as a refugee in 1992 after the collapse of the Gen Siad Barre dictatorship in 1991.
A geography and history graduate of Somalia’s Lafole University, he was among the 11 Somalis given temporary teaching jobs in north eastern Kenya. He taught briefly at Wajir High School before moving to a Muslim organisation
