ST PAUL (Halbeeg News) – Minnesota Governor, Tim Wolz hosted Iftar program for Muslims community on Wednesday.
The fast-breaking meal for Ramadan was hosted at the governor’s residence in St. Paul.
“In honour of Ramadan, Gwen and I hosted an Iftar dinner at the residence last night,” Governor Tim tweeted.
“We had a wonderful time gathering with our Muslim friends and neighbours to celebrate a blessed and peaceful Ramadan.”
Hamse Warfa, the Minnesota assistant commissioner for economic opportunity, said the reception by Governor Walz is a clear indication between president Trump administration and Minnesota towards Muslims.
“Trump administration hasn’t even sent a congratulatory message for Muslims during the holy month of Ramadan, and you can see the governor’s warm reception, it is like a day and night,” Commissioner Warfa said.
President Donald Trump administration which is seen as anti-Muslim and anti-migrant broke more than two decades tradition by successive US leaders in which Muslims were invited to the white house for Iftar.
Trump signed three executive orders which threatened the rights of immigrants and refugees both in the united states and globally.
