MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – The Somalia government has launched a major security shake-up on Thursday amid the fight against Al-Shabaab rumped up in some parts of the country.
Immediate changes were made to the top brass of Somalia’s security apparatus with new commanders and deputies in the intelligence, police and Coastal guards.
In a presidential decree, Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has appointed Mr. Dahir Adan Elmi as the country’s new military chief.
Mr. Elmi will replace the current Somali National Army (SNA) Chief, Gen. Abdweli Jama’a Gorod.
In the decree, Abdikadir Mohamed Nur has been relieved of his duties as the deputy director of Country’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA).
President Farmaajo replaced Yassin, the chief staff of the Villa Somalia with Dr. Amina Said Ali who becomes the first female occupant of the position.
Fahad Yasin who has been serving as the Chief staff of Villa Somali since 2017 was moved to serve as the deputy director of NISA.
Odawaa Yussuf Raghe has been promoted to the force commander of the Somali military.
Hassan Nur Ol-ujog was as named as the country’s new Navy Chief.
