MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – The deputy governor of Lower Shabelle region, Abdifatah Haji Abdullahi has survived an assassination attempt Saturday when a bomb fitted into his car went off.
Witnesses said that the attack was carried out in Dharkeynley district targeting the official’s car.
Mr. Abdullahi who spoke to the media said that the explosive device went off as he was outside the car.
“The car was mine, during the explosion I was not in the car,” he said.
So far, no group has claimed the responsibility for the attack, but the official said Al-Shabaab is behind this attack.
Al-Shabaab has carried out several attacks on Somali government officials.
