MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali Lower House Speaker, Mohamed Mursal Sheikh on Wednesday met with seven Southwest hopeful Presidential candidates.
Mr. Mohamed has received the contenders at his office in Mogadishu.
The sides discussed on wide range issues including means to establish political changes through peace and democratic process in the state.
Among the candidates met the speaker, are: Sheikh Mukhtar Robbow, formerĀ Somali finance minister, Mohamed Adan Fargeti, Yussuf Moalim Amiin and the incumbent President Sharif Sheikh Adan.
Presidential elections for South West state will take place November 17 this year.
South West state was formed on November 7, 2014, after several political tussles and agreements.
The current president Sharif Hassan Adan was elected jointly by delegates and elders in 2014 before the Assembly was constituted.
Subsequently, the Assembly passed its first amendment locking out delegates and giving powers to the legislators and clan elders.
