NAIROBI (Halbeeg News) – Kenyan police vehicle escorting buses en route to Elwak town in Mandera county has successfully escaped undamaged in landmine blast.
According to officials, an Improvised Explosive Device s (IED) planted on the road missed the vehicle.
The blast happened in an area between Chabibar and Bambo villages.
Mandera County Police Commander Jeremiah ole Kosiom said the police officers escaped unhurt as the IED went off after their vehicle passed near the explosive.
He said the government dispatched security team to hunt those behind the attack.
Kosiom blamed the local for taking part in the plans to bury IEDs on the roads.
“The attack was done by Chabibar locals and we will do our best to apprehend the suspects,” he said.
