Nairobi (Halbeeg News) – The candidate running on the ticket of Kenya’s ruling party has been declared of the by-election held Wajir west of Northeastern region.
According to Kenya’s poll agency, Ahmed Kolosh from Jubilee Party Mr. Kolosh garnered 11,053 votes against Sheikh Ibrahim 6,532 ballots.
The results were announced early Friday morning by IEBC returning officer Mourice Raria.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission tallied results from all the 75 polling stations spread out in four wards: Arbajahan, Hadado/Athibohol, Adam Admasajide, and Ganyure/Wagalla.
The by-election recorded more than 60 percent voter turnout with 17,606 votes having been cast.
Sheikh who was from one of oldest party in Kenya, KANU has conceded defeat by signing a satisfactory letter indicating the poll was fair and free.
“I want to take this opportunity to congratulate my worthwhile competitor. We are all winners. I will join him in building and moving Wajir West forward. In me he has a brother,” Sheikh said.
Kolosh decamped from Raila Odinga’s ODM party after the Supreme Court overturned his election on January 19.
