NAIROBI ( Halbeeg News)- Kenya security agencies have warned the country against new waves of al-Shabaab attacks following the killing of Kenyan born al-Shabaab commander.
Ahmed Iman, who was al-Shabaab’s the leader of Kenyan operations reportedly killed in an air strike last week.
Kenya security forces along Kenya’s border with Somalia have placed on alert to avert new attacks.
The intelligence report published by Kenyan online media indicates that al-Shabaab fighters plan to attack areas along the border.
“There might be a possible retaliatory attack. Al Shabaab militants believe the attack on their high command must have had an insider’s work as it hit the building where their leaders were meeting and planning future targets,” the intelligence report reads in part.
Residents of Mandera, Wajir and Garissa have also been warned against possible retaliation by the al-Shabaab fighters who have been a constant threat in North Eastern.
Al-Shabaab has been carrying out deadly attacks in Kenya since 2011 when Kenyan forces crossed their border into Somalia to fight al-Shabaab.
