NAIROBI (Halbeeg News) – Kenya has announced it will be selling two Somali Airforce aircraft which had been lying in Nairobi unclaimed for many years.
In a statement, Kenya Civil Aviation Authority said it plans to auction off unused aircraft at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Moi International Airport, Lokichoggio Airport and Wilson Airport.
The East African nation said in a statement the aircraft, which are part of several others will be auctioned on November 17.
The 3C-ZZZ registered aircraft are Russian made and were in use during the Siad Barre administration. During that period, Somalia had received military support from both the US and Russia.
The aircraft to be auctioned off include two aircraft belonging to the Somali Air Force, registered with 3C-ZZA and 8204, both AN24 aircraft, located between Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), and two Russian aircraft.
There was no one to either repair or pick them up from the Kenyan authorities. As stated, the required cost is also for KShs.
