NAIROBI ( HALBEEG NEWS) – Schools in Kenya will reopen next week according to the ministry of education after six months of closure due to coronavirus pandemic prevention mechanism in the country.
President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered the closure of schools with immediate effect on March to curb the spread of the pandemic in the country.
According to Education Minister George Magoha, the reopening will be from October 12 where Grade 4, Class 8, and Form 4 students will come back to schools for lessons.
All students will adhere to the mandatory use of facemasks and monitoring of body temperatures.
In a statement on Tuesday, Magoha further said the schools will close on December 23, 2020, for a one week break.
The Minister said the national exams such as the KCPE will start on March 22, 2021, and end on March 24, 2021, while KCSE exams will start on March 25, 2021, and end on April 16, 2021.
Also, the marking of the KCSE exams will be for three weeks from April 19 to May 7, 2021.
