NAIROBI (Halbeeg News) – Kenya’s Immigration Department has set up a special desk to help Muslim pilgrims going to Hajj this year.
The temporary desk has been available for Muslims during special seasons such as Hajj and Umrah in recent years to avoid inconvenience.
Garissa Town member and the National Assembly Majority Leader, Aden Duale urged the Muslim community to fully cooperate with those charged with the responsibility of issuance of the vital travel documents, in order to ensure a smooth exercise.
Speaking during Ramadan Quranic competition in Garissa, Hon. Duale urged Muslims faithful willing to make the spiritual journey not worry adding all necessary measures has been put in place.
“This time around there will be proper coordination from those charged with the responsibility of ensuring that things go on smoothly,” he said.
Millions of Muslims across the globe are set for the annual Hajj pilgrimage set on August this year.
But lesser Hajj known as Umrah is already ongoing towards the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Over the past eight months, more than 6.1 million pilgrims traveled to Mecca to take part in the ritual, up from 5.7 million during the same period in the last Islamic year.
The increase comes as Saudi Arabia looks to expand capacity in Mecca to accommodate more than 30 million visitors per year, part of the Vision 2030 strategy to advance growth and tourism.
