NAIROBI ( HALBEEG NEWS) – Kenya Defense Forces confirmed that it has launched investigations into circumstances in which its air force helicopter crashed in southern Somalia on Monday.
Ten military personnel were wounded in the accident that occurred in Dhobely in Lower Jubba region.
“An investigation team is in Dhobley to establish the cause of the crash,” KDF spokesperson Zipporah Kioko said in a statement.
The wounded troops are undergoing treatment in forces memorial hospitals in the capital Nairobi where they have been airlifted for specialized medication.
“All the ten military personnel on board the aircraft are at the Defense Forces Memorial Hospital in Nairobi in stable condition,” KDF Spokesperson Zipporah Kioko confirmed.
The air force plane was on routine duties when it crash-landed at the Dhobley airstrip after it developed a technical hitch while on its return trip to Nairobi.
Kenyan military is part of AMSOM’s Sector two, which has its headquarters in the port city of Kismayo, is comprised of Lower, Middle Juba, and Gedo regions.
There are more than 4000 troops from Kenya after they pulled out a battalion when 850 Sierra Leonean troops arrived.
