BELED-HAWO (Halbeeg News) – Kenya military forces have been amassed along the border with Somalia in the last two days barely four days after brief gun battle between forces from both countries.
Locals in Beled-Hawa and Elwak towns confirmed the presence of the Kenyan forces at the border points.
Officials who spoke to local media Kenya who also confirmed the deployment of forces termed the motive as operations to smoke out militants in the northeastern part of East Africa nation.
They denied any tension between Kenya military and SNA forces in Gedo region of southern Somalia.
The officials stated the forces will hunt down al-Shabaab members in border area.
Meanwhile Somali authorities in Gedo have commented on the latest development.
Last week Somali army and Kenyan soldiers briefly clashed in Beled-Hawa- Mandera border following what Somali authorities in Beled-Hawa termed as provocation by Kenya forces.
Kenya government has commented on the incident.
