NAIROBI (Halbeeg News) – Kenyan military has vowed to launch offensives against al-Shabaab fighters in Kenya and Somalia.
In a statement, Kenyan Defense Forces said it will hunt the fighters along the border between Somalia and Kenya.
The statement said the forces killed a number of al-Shabaab fighters along the Kenya-Somalia border.
KDF troops confiscated two AK 47 rifles, one SLR rifle, and assorted ammunition.
“KDF has carried out operations to hunt down al-Shabaab, three al-Shabaab fighters were killed in a gun battle with the army and confiscated arms,” he said.
The development comes barely three days after Al-Shabaab fighter surrendered to the Kenyan Defense Forces in the town of Bura Hache along the Kenyan- Somalia border.
The defector is identified as Hassan Hussein Ali, 24, was born in Bangal, Tana River County.
He said he joined the group in August 2018 and was training with them until last month.
