KISMAYO ( HALBEEG NEWS)- The President of Jubbaland state Ahmed Mohamed Islam has called for continued dialogue between the Somali political stakeholders in order to agree on the contentious election model.
President Madobe said the meeting in Galmudug between FG-FMS leadership was a step forward in the right direction on the political future in the country.
He stressed the need to conduct the election process on stipulated time to avoid unnecessary political tension.
Jubbaland leader was speaking in Kismayo, the interim administrative capital of Jubbaland state shortly after returning from Dhusamareb on Friday where he was attending a forum alongside other state leaders led by the head of the state President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and co-chaired Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire.
According to a joint communique issued on Wednesday last week, the FG- FMS leaders agreed to nominate a joint technical committee that will deliver recommendations concerning elections before they reconvene in the central city of Dhusamareb in two weeks from 15th August to decide on the model of the election in the country.
The leadership of Somalia’s two-level of government also agreed to strengthen unity, enhance FGS –FMS cooperation to sustain stability, and fight against terrorism while boosting the economic development efforts to intensify the debt relief procedure.
