KISMAYO ( Halbeeg News) – Jubbaland leader, Ahmed Mohamed Islam has called for calm and forgiveness ahead of the upcoming regional presidential elections later this month.
Speaking during Eid Adha prayers on Sunday in Kismayo, Ahmed Islam said there is no need for political tension that jeopardizes security, saying the stability and peace that is currently enjoyed was hard earned and should not be destroyed during the electioneering period.
” We are in political campaign mood that creates competition and hate that should not lead us to forget our responsibility towards the unity of our people.”
Ahmed Madobe called upon other candidates and politicians in the state to work towards the unity and prosperity of the people and avoid self interest.
” Unity and togetherness is the only way out of the challenges we are facing in our country, let’s put the interest of our people first.” the regional leader stressed.
He reminded the federal government in Mogadishu about the its responsibility to unite people in the state stressing the need for the government of President Farmajo and Prime Minister Kheir to play its part in the stability and development of the regional administration.
Jubbaland leader calls comes as both the federal government via the interior ministry and the international community through the United Nations reiterated for the need for the leadership towards transparent and peaceful elections.
