The security officials in Jubaland State on Sunday paraded Al-Shabab member who was nabbed while assembling impressive explosive devices.
Jubaland forces have arrested the suspect from a village in the outskirts of Kismayo town.
In a press conference, the forces displayed gadgets and IEDs confiscated during a security operation conducted by Jubbaland forces.
Ahmed Muse Hirsi, head of Jubaland Investigation department who spoke to media said the security forces nabbed the suspect together with another suspect in an operation launched in the outskirts of Kismayo town.
Hirsi said the other suspect sustained injuries during the operation by the forces and is undergoing treatment in Kismaayo Hospital.
The suspect paraded before the media was identified as Abdifitah Bashir Abdi.
“Security forces confiscated three landmines and arrested two suspects in an operation which took place in the outskirts of Kismayo town. One of the two suspects sustained injuries during the operation and he is being treated at the hospital. They were planning to cause harm the people with the ODDs,” said Hirsi.
The official called on the public to work hand in hand with the security forces so as to step up and maintain peace in the region.
Al-Shabab fighters has stepped attacks in the towns and villages liberated by Somali forces backed by Africa Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) during the holy of Ramadan.
