KISMAYO ( Halbeeg News) – The traditional leaders from Jubbaland regional state of Somalia are expected to kick off a selection process to nominate members of the regional assembly.
Community leaders representing various tribes that reside in the state have converged in the port city of Kismayo, the interim administrative headquarters of Jubbaland state of Somalia.
The security has been heightened in and around the city to preempt possible threat during the selection process.
75 members of the assembly are expected to decide the next regional leader on August this year.
Incumbent regional leader, Ahmed Mohamed Islam has been serving the office for two terms.
His opponents have accused him of iron fist ruling during his reign while blaming him for politicizing election campaigns however security has improved under his tenure in office.
