MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Over ten Somali migrants returned from Tanzania and Uganda have arrived in Mogadishu.
In a statement, UN migration agency said it helped 14 Somali migrants return home from Tanzania and Uganda following months of confinement in detention centers.
The agency noted that the process which was accomplished this week was voluntary as the migrants accepted to return to their home.
The arrival of the migrants was confirmed by Hassan Ali Khaire, Prime Minister of Somalia.
Prime minister Kheire said the migrants were happily received at Adan Adde International Airport.
“We are happy to welcome back home 14 of our nationals who were incarcerated in Uganda and Tanzania,” Khaire said.
“We continue to strive to secure the freedom of Somalis stranded or incarcerated abroad and facilitate their safe return home,” he added.
In the last one year, over 1,000 Somalis were repatriated from Libya, India, Seychelles, Eritrea, Sudan, and Tanzania.
