MOGADISHU ( Halbeeg News) – The international community has welcomed the ongoing talks between Galmudug state leaders.
In a statement jointly issued by envoys based in Somali capital have commended the efforts to bring parties together for the benefit of its people and the whole of Somalia.
The ambassadors were from Belgium, Denmark, Ethiopia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States, the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), the European Union, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the United Nations, as major international partners of Somalia.
The statement said the international community lauds the ongoing dialogue in Galmudug to unify the state and promote stability.
“We encourage all stakeholders to continue these endeavors and to take forward broad-based and inclusive reconciliation, leading to the transparent and fair selection of a new Parliament and President, free from violence,” the statement reads in part. “We reaffirm our support for Somalia.”
Galmudug is expected to hold leadership elections in the forthcoming months.
