MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – The International community has called for unified support for the agreed framework governing the elections of Southwest state.
In a statement, Denmark, European Union, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Kenya, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Uganda, United Kingdom, United States, AMISOM and the United Nations have jointly urged all parties and stakeholders to respect the integrity of the electoral process.
“We encourage constructive dialogue to resolve political differences and address other challenges in order to advance the political and economic progress of the country,” the statement reads in part.
The community expressed concerns about the recent events in Southwest State that led to the death of over ten people.
“We extend our deepest condolences for the death of the Southwest State assembly member and others who have died in the violence in Baidoa,” Somalia’s partners said, “We deplore all violence and any other acts that could exacerbate the humanitarian situation.”
