MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – At least four Kenyan military soldiers were killed and several others injured after their vehicles hit IED near Somalia-Kenya border.
Kenya Military statement confirmed the attack saying the attack targeted Kenyan forces working under the framework African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) traveling along Tabdha-Dhobley road.
“We are still gathering the information, so far, we received a report confirming death of four KDF gallant soldiers killed in the attack. The injuries could reach eight soldiers,” the statement reads in apart.
According to the statement, those with serious injuries will be air lifted to Nairobi for treatment.
The attack comes on the edge of the fifth anniversary of KDF base attack in El-Adde town of Gedo region.
On 15th January 2016, heavily armed al-Shabaab fighters stormed Kenyan military base in the small, prompting hours long fierce fighting.
The militants managed to overrun the base, killing over 150 soldiers. Kenya sent its troops to Somalia in 2011 to fight al-Shabaab.
