JIGJIGA(Halbeeg-News)-Hundreds of separatist repel group, ONLF today landed at Jigjiga airport after two decades they have been fighting the Ethiopian government.
On landing at Jigjiga airport, the members of the former repel group, ONLF received warm welcome from the local administration of Somali regional state and civil society from all walks.
The members of ONLF have departed from Asmara airport in the capital of Eritrea in this morning where they have been the last two decades.
Some of the members who briefed the media at Jigjiga airport after landing said they are happy to come back to their country and start new life.
The parliament of Ethiopia has removed ONLF, and two other groups, OLF and Ginbot 7 from terror list.
August this, ONLF declared a unilateral ceasefire and some of its members have returned to Ethiopia and agreed to open a formal peace talk with the government of Ethiopia.
Late September, Ethiopian officials led by finance minister of Ethiopia, Ahmed Shide have held meeting with ONLF in Asmara, the capital of Eritrea. ONLF was represented by the chairman the former repel group admiral Mohamed Omar.
The sides reached a common understanding on all issues discussed in the meeting and agreed to work together peacefully for the sake of the people in Somali region.
