JOWHAR (Halbeeg News) – More than twenty-seven candidates running for eight senatorial seats have delivered campaign speeches at HirShabelle regional assembly in Jowhar town, about 90km north of Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu.
The state’s regional Parliamentarians will tomorrow elect senators who will be representing the state in the eleventh federal parliament of Somalia.
Last Sunday, the HirShabelle Electoral Commission completed the registration of 27 candidates.
HirShabelle’s list of candidates for the upper house was initially announced to be 34 members, but seven of them withdrew from the race after they failed to fulfill the registration requirements.
They include:
