Hirshabelle state President, Mohamed Abdi Ware has fired the governor of Hiraan region, Ali Jeyte Osman just two weeks after the first phase of the operations against Al-Shabab in Hiran region was concluded.
A dismissal letter from the office of president Ware said Osman has been relieved of his duties following deliberations with members of the civil society groups.
The President replaced Osman with Abdullahi Ahmed Sufurow to head the administration of Hiran region.
Sufurow is expected to lead the second phase of the operations which Hirshabelle state that vowed to start operations before the beginning of the month of Ramadhan.
“Abdullahi Ahmed Sufurow has been appointed for governorship of Hiran region,” reads the letter which dated 12th April.
The office of Ware did not disclose the reasons behind the dismissal of Osman who has been occupying the office since September last year.
Osman who returned to Beledweyne earlier this month, was leading a joint forces of Somali and AMISOM who were conducting operations to secure the road linking Mahas and Beledweyne towns.
During his visit to Beledweyne town early this month, President Ware vowed to step up the fight to flush out Al-Shabab fighters from the region.
