BELEDWEYNE (Halbeeg News) – Former Hiiraan governor, Yusuf Ahmed Hagar (Dabaged) has been reappointed to be the third governor to lead the region in less than six months.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Hirshabelle leader, Mohamed Abdi Waare has dismissed Abdullahi Ahmed Maalin (Sufurow), nominating Dabaged to be the new governor of Hiiraan region.
The reason behind the sacking of Sufurow still remains unknown despite speculations claiming that elders in the region lodged a complaint about the leader.
Sufurow was appointed for the post in April after his predecessor Ali Jeyte was sacked by President Waare.
This will be the third time Dabaged is appointed for the same position since 2009
Dabaged who served as the region’s governor from 2006-2009 was reappointed for the same position in 2015, replacing Abdifatah Hassan Afrah who served as a governor since 2012.
He was sacked in 2016 by the state’s former President, Ali Abdullahi Osoble
The outgoing Hiraan governor has not yet commented on his dismissal.
