JOWHAR (Halbeeg News)-The leader of Hirshabelle regional state of Somalia, Mohamed Abdi Warre has praised the response by the Federal Government of Somalia in regards to Kenya following the dispute over a maritime border.
President Warre who was speaking during an interview with VOA Somali services on Wednesday reiterated the role of the government in managing foreign policy affairs according to the constitution.
“The federal government responded professionally and soberly,” he said adding “Somalia and Kenya cannot afford to clash, they must resolve any disagreement through negotiations.”
Hirshabelle regional state leader has said the discovery of oil and gas reserves in the country is a good start, but it will take years to excavate while underlining that there were no oil blocks auctioned for now.
On the other hand, Mohamed Abdi Warre ruled out the existence of the Inter-state council conference that was formed by the leader of regional administrations across the country meant to safeguard the interest of the states.
“There was a political standoff between the federal government and regional states on the council members but I cording my opinion if the council want to ask like opposition political party it should be there in the first place,” he said.
Warre also mentioned about the exit of over 1000 AMISOM troops mainly from the Hiirsballe state saying he is confident Somali security agencies will fill the vacuum the left behind.
