Hirshabelle Interior ministry has appointed Abdi Hussein Osman as acting mayor of Beledweyne town after the ministry suspended the former mayor.
In a letter dated March 22, Ali Duh Abdi, the outgoing mayor of the town was suspended from the duty.
The ministry did not state the reason of the suspension.
“After we have seen the need for changes, the ministry of interior has debarred Ali Duh Abdi from the office,” reads the letter seen by Halbeeg News.
The ministry further said Abdi Hussein Osman who is the current deputy mayor of the town will replace the suspended official as acting.
Ali Duh has been the serving the office for ten months after he was appointed by the ousted Hirshabelle President, Ali Abdullahi Osoble in June 2017.
Beledweyne town which is headquarters of Hiiraan region is located 330 Km north of Somali capital, Mogadishu
