Hirshabelle state cabinet on Saturday approved the bill of local government which was submitted by the state’s interior ministry.
In an extraordinary session chaired by the deputy President of Hirshabelle state, Ali Abdullahi Guudlawe, ministers debated on the bill and eventually approved it.
It will be first draft bill passed by the cabinet since it was formed late last year.
Guudlawe said that bill will be tabled to the regional assembly in forthcoming days for endorsement.
Extension of local administrations
Hirshabelle state officials are carrying out initiatives to extend the local administrations throughout the state’s regions.
The deputy president said the formation process of the local administrations is in its final stage.
“Our officials are mapping out plans to form local administrations for Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle regions. After conclusion, we will deploy our officials throughout the regions,” Guudlaawe said in December last.
Hirshabelle which is the youngest state in Somalia was formed in 2016
