Hirshabele cabinet on Thirsday approved 2018 budget which was submitted by the state’s finance ministry.
In meeting chaired by Hirshabele President, Mohamed Abdi Ware, the cabinet passed the state’s budget which is $8,556,34 for the first time since the state was formed in 2016.
Mohamed Mohamud Abdulle, Hirshabele finance minister who hailed the approval of the budget told the cabinet that his ministry is expected to generate the budget from the share of the federal government, local revenue and funds from foreign donars.
” We are expect to increase the budget as we have preliminary reports that plans of the ministry goes as drew earlier,” Abdulle said.
For his part, Hirshabele president commended the minister for his commitment to make the budget of the state as reliable.
“The budget of Hirshabelle state will be based on transparency and accountability. The move by the finance ministry is fundamental for the state’s development and the financial management. Hirshabele is committed to improve the different departments especially financial departments which are very crucial for us,” Ware said.
The sum which is the first one submitted by the ministry since 2016 is expected to enable the government of Hirshabele improve security, economic development as well as paying the dues its civil servants.
The budget will be tabled to the regional parliament for approval.
