HARGEISA ( HALBEEG NEWS) – The leader of Somaliland Muse Bihi Abdi has on Friday met with a high-level delegation from China.
The team from Beijing was led by ambassador Zhou Yuxiao of the Forum on China-Africa Co-operation.
The meeting in Hargeisa also attended by senior officials from both sides follows weeks after Somaliland announced the establishment of diplomatic ties with Taiwan which is considered by China as its undisputed territory.
This latest meeting comes days after reports by the media indicated how Chinese ambassador to Somalia ambassador Qin Jian meeting with President Muse Bihi Abdi was turned down.
China is concerned about Taipei relations with Hargeisa which is seen by analysts as neutralizing Beijing foothold in the strategic Horn of the Africa region.
In the past months, the Somaliland administration has embarked on what may be made or break diplomatic moves to boost its recognition in the international arena.
Hargeisa, the capital of the self-declared state was a beehive of high-level diplomatic visits for Ethiopia, Egypt, and Chinese officials trying to safeguard their interest.
