MOGADISHU ( Halbeeg News) – Somali health and social services minister, Dr. Fowzia Abikar Nur has called upon the Upper House of parliament to approve the National Health Professionals Commission Bill on Wednesday.
The bill which was prepared by the ministry is aimed to regulate and ensure the quality of health services provided by the professionals in the field.
Minister Fowzia Abikar who appeared before the second seating of the fifth session of the house reiterated the need to keep the quack health workers out of the service.
She said the bill will boost close cooperation between her ministry and the immigration directorate to inspect the certificates of foreign doctors operating in the country.
“The bill will protect the right of the citizens for quality (professional) health services, ” the minister told the Upper House representatives.
She said the bill will also help curb the influx of medicines from various part of the globe into the country.
“I was recently invited by my Egyptian counterpart to discuss among others including pharmaceutical products,” Dr, Fowzia said.
The first deputy speaker of the Upper House, Abshir Mohamed Ahmed closed the session with a promise of another meeting in which the members will decide on the fate of the proposed health bill
