At least one civilian, a woman was killed and another one injured near Beledweyn town when unidentified gunmen sprayed a passenger vehicle with bullets on Friday night, officials confirmed.
The gunmen ambushed the vehicle at Aloola-Ad village which is not far away from Beledweyne town in Hiraan region.
Beledweyne deputy district commissioner in charge of security, Mohamud Ali Muhumed confirmed that unidentified perpetrators attacked the passenger vehicle
” The incident occured at Aloola-Ad village and we are to known who is behind this action, we are conducting investigation into the case. We will not accept the public to be harmed,” said Muhumed.
Reopening roads
Residents in Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle regions have been reporting an increased number of roadblocks in the regions.
Early this month, Hirshabelle President, Mohamed Abdi Waare announced plans to re-open road blocked by Als-habab and gunmen.
addressing the media in Jowhar, Waare said operations aimed at re-opening the supply routes started from the road linking Jowhar and Bal’ad towns.
Somali forces backed by AMISOM troops are reported to started operations to clear roadblocks in Hiraan region.
Al-shabab fighters have severally waged ambushed attacks against convoys of Hirshabelle officials along Bal’ad-Jowhar road.
