Unknown assailants on Friday killed an elder, who was among the Electoral College that voted for members of the federal parliament.
The elder identified as Derow Dhakane Mohamed was gunned down by two men armed with pistols while on his way to his residence, alocal resident who did not want to be named confirmed.
Dakane was among the delegate that voted for the members of federal parliament from Jubbaland state.
The killers are reported to have escaped from the scene immdeitely after shooting the elder.
The security that reached the area after incident launched operation to hunt down the perpetrators but no one was arrested so far in connection with the murder.
Al-shabab fighters claimed the responsibility of the murder.
Electoral college comprising of 14,000 electoral delegates took part the parliamentary election held in Mogadishu, the capital city and the administrative capitals of the regional states.
