GARBAHAREY (Halbeeg)- Unidentified gunmen on Friday night killed a trader in Beled-Hawo, a town near Somalia’s border with Kenya.
Locals say Abdi Ali who was a well-known trader was shot dead by gun-wielding men shortly after evening prayer.
Ali was reportedly heading to his shop when the attack happened.
According to Ghedi Warsame, a local in Koshin neighbourhood where the attack occurred, the gunmen had been waiting for the victim near his shop in the area.
“We suspected but no one dared to ask questions, they were sitting near the shop of Abdi Ali. When he was about open his shop they shooting at him and he died on the spot,” said Warsame.
Reports claim the victim was among the electoral delegates who elected the parliament members of the federal government of Somalia.
No group has yet claimed the responsibility for the killing of Abdi.
