Unidentified gunmen killed regional lawmaker on Wednesday night in Somalia’s central town, Galkayo.
According to witnesses, Abdirahman Moalim Dahir who was a member of Puntland Assembly was sitting out a hotel when armed men accosted and shot him from close range.
Dahir succumbed to serious injuries he sustained while undergoing treatment in Galkaio hospital.
The assailants also gunned down one of his bodyguards before they managed to escape from the crime scene.
Al-Shabab group has claimed the responsibility of killing the lawmaker.
Dahir who has been serving Puntland House for the last three years will be burried in Galkaayo town.
